Fall is officially here, and I am SO excited! This time of the year is my favorite season for fashion, and in general (winter is a close second because CHRISTMAS).
Some trends I’m loving right now are dresses with booties, ponchos, over the knee boots, and big oversized sweaters (rounded up some of my fave affordable fall essentials here). In LA, the beginning of fall means cooler mornings and evenings but warmer temps during the day. And that means layering is essential!
This casual chambray dress is perfect to wear this time of the year, and is ideal for layering. The chambray material is thick (but also light), super soft and extremely flattering. The lace-up detail is very on trend, and gives the dress some edge and playfulness.
I paired this cute chambray number with the softest cardigan, peep toed booties and a backpack! You could wear the sweater in the morning, and tie it around your waist during the day when it’s warmer. This would also be really cute with a scarf (leopard print to be exact!) or over the knee boots. The possibilities are endless!
This dress is currently on sale, making it under $20! Snag it now while it’s still in stock. I’ve also included a plus size option for my curvier ladies.
Can you believe that summer is officially over on Friday (September 22)?! It’s definitely bittersweet this year because summer 2017 has been so good to me.
I got to see my best friend marry the love of her life (and stand by her side as Maid of Honor), my parents moved into the lake house of their dreams; my boyfriend started a passion project of his own, and I launched Rosé & Chambray! This summer I learned a lot of lessons, but I wanted to share one of the most personal ones with you in my last post of the season.
Wine tasting, feeding exotic animals, and taking in some of the most gorgeous views in Malibu are all things to expect while on the Malibu Wine Safari Explorer Tour. Doug and I recently visited the Saddlerock Ranch and Vineyard in Malibu, and I’m excited to share my honest opinion with you about our experience!
Can you believe it’s September already?! It feels like I was taking down my Christmas decorations in late January just yesterday . But really, this year needs to slow down!
Labor Day kind of signifies the end of summer, and while that is a little sad, Fall is probably my favorite fashion season! Fall means booties, oversized sweaters, moto jackets, leggings, scarves, cardigans…and I’m here for all of it. Labor Day weekend is also the perfect time to shop all the online sales by the pool with a glass (or 5) of strawberry mango rosé sangria!
If you know you’re going to need new fall/winter clothes, why not get them while they’re up to 60% off, right? Fall will be here before you know it, so you might as be stylishly prepared. I’ve checked out all the Labor Day sales at my favorite stores, and I’m sharing my fall must-haves for each below!
If you’ve been following along on my Instagram page, you know that I was recently the Maid of Honor in my best friend Katie’s wedding! I was in Virginia all last week helping prep for the festivities, drinking way too much wine, and just having a blast with the wedding party.
Since I was the MOH, I had my wedding wear selected for me (see our pretty dresses under $175 here). BUT we got to show off our style and get dressed up for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner! I wore this gorgeous woven wrap dress (comes in black and grey too), and decided to pair it with pearl embellished everything, because why not (perfect pearl shoes here)?!
I keep seeing people posting about how summer is coming to an end, but we’ve still got a month left until the official last day of summer (September 22nd)! And I’ve got something that can make summer last year-round. What is it, you ask? My strawberry mango rosé sangria (say that 5 times fast )!
If there’s any show I feel like I need to drink wine with, it’s Game of Thrones. Tyrion Lannister stole my heart when he said “Everything is better with some wine in the belly” in season 1, episode 1. The amount of wine consumed in this show is pretty impressive, and Tyrion takes the cake as biggest wineo, hands down.
While watching this masterful series, I became very curious about what kind of wines the characters were drinking, and wanted to drink along with them. Although I knew the show was fantasy, it amazed me that the Arbor wines and Dornish Sour Reds that are sipped by Daenerys and Cersei were also entirely made up. So that got me thinking…
Wouldn’t it be awesome to bring the wines in the fantasy world of Game of Thrones to life?
And wouldn’t it be even more awesome if you could find the real-world equivalents to the wines of Westeros at Trader Joe’s?
With some help from the brilliant minds at VinePair , Vivino, VineGeek and some of my own creative interpretations, I’m doing just that! Here are my real world wine recommendations to drink Arbor Gold, Arbor Red, Dornish Sour Red, Dornish Strongwine and Sweet Reds from Highgarden like the characters in Game of Thrones, all of which you can get at your local Trader Joe’s.
If you’re planning on hosting a Game of Thrones watch party, impress your guests by serving these Westerosi wine doppelgängers.
I recently visited the new LikeToKnow. It mural in Venice, and had a blast shooting this look in front of it! The mural, located at 228 Main Street in Venice, CA 90291, is beautiful, and the colors are so fun. If you’re in the LA area, I recommend going there to snap a pic while you can.
Moving on, I totally didn’t realize how sheer this top was until it arrived. I was a bit taken aback, but ended up loving it once I tried it on. If you would’ve asked me if I’d confidently wear an almost-totally-sheer top with no undershirt a few years ago, the answer would be a firm hell no.
Confidence is EVERYTHING. It really does make all the difference in how you look, how you’re perceived, and most importantly how you feel. People always tell me that I seem so confident, and I am, but it didn’t happen overnight. My journey to loving my body and feeling comfortable in my own skin has been a long one (and is a daily work in progress).
Today I’m sharing the top 5 things you can do to start feeling like your most confident self!
If your closet is anything like mine, you have clothes of all different sizes. I’ve got smalls, mediums, larges, extra larges, etc. And although my sizing exists on a spectrum, I am almost always a 12 or 14.
The funny thing is, if I fit into a piece of clothing or need to size down to a size below these numbers, I instantly feel happy and proud of myself. If I have to size up, I feel less than, and often times ashamed. For the longest time I would refuse to size up out of pride. Even if the smaller size didn’t fit well, I’d convince myself that I was going to “loose the weight” to fit into said item (this is the WORST). And if I did muster up the courage to buy the larger size, I’d cut the tags off, and feel disgusted with myself every time I wore the piece (I even did this when my size range was between size 7-9 back in college).
About 6 months ago I purchased a size 14 top, and it was too small. When I realized it didn’t fit, I nearly broke down into tears. I felt so humiliated. I knew that if I wanted the shirt to fit I would need to order a size 16, and I refused to do that because that would be “accepting” that I was a size 16 (this is what I call size-up scaries).
The opposite happened when I tried on this blue gingham dress. I ordered a size 12 Tall, and it was HUGE. I found myself getting really happy and excited that I needed to exchange the dress for 1 or 2 sizes down….but why? I hadn’t lost any weight (I’ve actually gained a few lbs lately due to non-stop vacations and treat-yoself days, whatever). I hadn’t accomplished some big feat or changed the world…I just happened to need a smaller dress size.
So it got me thinking, why do we let something as small as a number on a tag effect us so much?
