Hi beautiful souls,
Today we’re going to have a little #realtalk about a silly myth that curvy girls can’t or shouldn’t tuck their shirts into their pants.
Until recently, I was terrified of tucking my shirt into my pants or wearing bodysuits. I was in the mindset that I should only wear styles that hid my stomach and made me look “skinny.” Because, why would I want to highlight my no-where near flat belly?!
We tend not to want to offend anyone by drawing attention to our “imperfections,” but I say screw that. I see comments from women all over Instagram and the internet saying they wish they could tuck in their shirts, and I’m here to tell you that YOU CAN. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with showing off your curves, and NO need to hide them!
As a size 12/14 woman with plenty of curves, there is nothing more empowering than breaking a fashion stereotype and wearing what the heck you want and feeling fabulous doing it. Looking back, whenever I tried to wear baggy clothes to hide my body, I looked even bigger than I actually was. Tucking in your shirt (or bodysuit) into your pants elongates your torso and accentuates your waist line. It’s a style ANYONE can pull off!
Tuck that shirt in, wear that body suit, rock that crop top, tie a knot into your top and do you!
Here are a few curvy girl tips for tucking your shirt into your pants:
- Choose high quality, thick jeans/pants that have a bit of room in the waist and hips- this will prevent your tucked in shirt from showing through your pant
- Pick a top that’s form fitting (or better yet, a bodysuit)
- Try high-waisted jeans or pants with stretch (obsessed with these black jeans)
- Wear a blazer, cardigan or kimono over your tucked tee or blouse to add an extra dimension and highlight your hourglass shape
- Be confident! Embrace your curves and flaunt what ya mama gave ya!
